Overview

The custom 450 kVp/225 kVp Hutch is a walk-in bay designed for versatility. It is equipped with two microfocus X-ray sources (450 kVp and 225 kVp), and two X-ray detectors (a 2000 x 2000 pixels Flat Panel detector and a 2048 pixels Curved Linear Detector Array, CLDA) allowing operator to combine hardware and optimise system’s performance to best suit the sample and imaging requirements. The system can be used to analyse specimens whose dimensions range from a few mm in cross-section up to 1 x 1 x 1.5 m. The heavy-duty rotation stage is capable of supporting specimens up to 100 kg. The 225 kVp source has a range of anodes offering different combinations of spot size and flux characteristics, giving further potential to optimise scan settings. A labyrinth at the rear of the system allows routing of cables and pipes that can control and feed in-situ rigs for time-resolved (4D) µ-CT experiments.
